Is there any advantage to putting a over size tire on my 5’ giraffe? It has a thin looking 1.75 X 20" and I was thinking of a 2-2.25 X 20". I will be riding it on the streets and was thinking it would be easier to ride this way. It appears to have plenty of clearance. Please reply if you have some helpful advice or experiences…Thank. Tom
Put it on, ride it around a bit.
If you like it leave it on, if not change it. Tire size is all about personal preferance.
Yes, I think a fatter tire will be nicer for cruising around the streets. The 1.75 tires that come on giraffe unicycles are just intended for riding in a controlled environment, like a gym or parking lot. High pressure allows for precise control, but if you’re going over bumps more air volume would be nice to have as well. And you can run the pressure a little lower.
… definitely… if your frame and rim can handle the larger size. You may have to try a couple of different tire sizes to find the best match for your needs.
also, tires come pretty cheap, and come in nifty colors!

Try a Maxxis Miracle 2.10
I put one of these on my 5 foot giraffe. Got mine for about $15. Some times I commute on it to work. Works great on the street. Floats good on the beach in wet packed sand.

If its for a BMX rim then I would check out these two that I found just looking on Danscomp, you may be able to find others on other sites, but those were the biggest ones I could find that are easily available.
