Overseas Team in World Games Unicycle Convention

Hi all,

The World Games Unicycle Convention (August 2001, Akita Japan) is drawing
near. I would like to ask the unicycling leaders in various countries to
help organize teams to this event. The IUF is now disussing setting up a
worldwide network of IUF national and regional representatives. We can
test the feasibility of this by having the unicycle leaders act as
unofficial represnetatives in their countries in an effort to enourage
partcipation.

I would especially like to call on such key leadesrs as Chris Vevers
(Australia), Andy Cotter (US), Sarah Miller and Roger Davies (UK) and Rita
Rita Platzcke-Widlak (Germany) etc. to help organize teams from their
respective countries, since they have proven their skill in organizing
events and putting teams together.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) you don’t need to prepare much for this
event. It is not an offficial international competition like a Unicon,
though medals and trophies will of course be awarded. It will be held
along the lines of a Japanese unicycling event. It’s real goal is to allow
us to take the first step toward becoming an Olympic sport.

Please let me know if you plan to partcipate and if there is anything at
we can do to help.

The eyes of the world will upon us in Akita. Let us show them what a
wonderful international sport unicycling really is.

Hang on a minute . Isn’t this rather late in the day to start “calling” on
specific people to Organise teams to travel half way round the world to
take part in a two day convention.

If any Uk riders go to this convention they will be the Uk team. IF they
want to be. I would like to make it clear that I will NOT be organiseing a
team to attend the world games unicycle convention. I will not be
attending this convention having neither the money nor the time.

I have passed a condensed form of the three recent postings about the
convenbtion to the UK_unicyclists e-group , that is the limit of my
involvement.

Thanks for your help, Sarah. Thr WGUC was announced durung UX and I have
sent out several announcemets afterward. Please don’t be concerned with my
mentioning specific names now. I was hoping for a greater response until
now, but since the response is still limited I thought I would appeal to
specific people.

Anyway, anyone is welcome and I will be happy to do all I can to help make
your trip be a successful one.
