Outlook PST files

Ok, I’m a true dumbass but now I need to fix this problem. I use outlook for my email, I know I screwed myself over right there. But I did. Now Outlook flipped out and keeps wanted to install from the Office 2000 SBE CD. Well I dont’ have it, and not many people around here have it either, SBE at a college isn’t taht big. So outlook is kaput. Now I got the .PST files with all the email, and there are some really improtant ones. I need some program that can improt them without a working outlook application. Everything I tried so far trys to evoke the outlook installation somehow. Is there any work around? any utilitiy that will convert it to at least Outlook express format or better yet EML? that I can work with. Thanks, any suggrestions would be great. Damn MS

Re: Outlook PST files

Can’t you just import into outlook express by clicking “file”, “import”,
“messages”, then choose Microsoft outlook from the list?

I tried, but Oulook just tries to open the installation of outlook that is corrupted somehow, it done’st seem to want to do it by itself, same thing with netscape etc. I think I got it to work. I used a school computer with Outlook XP on it and opened the PST and exported by CVS, cumbersome but it worked.

Now does anyone know where Outlook stores the contacts by default? I can’t seem to find it, the few vcard files I see are empty.

Thanks a bunch.

Brian

Nope I didn’t. Both NEtscape and Outlook EXPRESS, try to envoke the OUTLOOK installation to load a PST. They won’t work. None of the formats outlook allows you to export to are easily improted by other programs. They all want netscape format etc. Well OUTLOOK XP only does text database stuff, excel files dbase files, none of which I can find a program that will manage.

Also new hitch. Does anyone knwo of an email program that will import CSV email files. I found plenty that will import CSV address books but not email files. OR better yet any way to convert an excel spreadsheet to email document. Thanks. I really need this data, there si some improtant stuff in it.
