Ottawa Unicycle Invasion Results

Results have been posted to the OUI’04 web site at http://carlroth.net/oui04/ . Congratulations to Ryan Atkins who won the Expert Trials Event.

The gallery has also been updated and will continue to be updated as I process all of the photos and movies shot. If you have some photos or or movie footage please arrange to send it to me so that I can add it to the site.

From a media perspective we did quite well with a live appearance on the “Breakfast with the New RO” tv show on Friday AM, a quarter page colour picture of the uni long jump in the Ottawa Sun on Sunday and a 1.5 minute segment on the TV 6 news cast featuring unicycle basketball and Darren Bedford.

Thanks to everyone who participated and supported the event! From all accounts everyone had a good time and enjoyed the event.

The Ottawa Unicycle Invasion turned out to be a awesome week-end. The weather was perfect.

Trials, MUni, long jump, high jump, and basketball

The log trials lines were amazing. Thanks to Devon and his dad.

I was very impressed with Sarah and Amanda practicing the whole week-end. Way to go girls.

It was also the first time I saw the Roth’s unicycle garage… with 14 Bedford Unicycles !
That will be 17 or 18 in the next few weeks.

The Roth BBQ Saturday night was great and ended with everyone making there own massive ice cream sundaes.

Thanks goes out to the guys from the US and everyone else who drove long distances to attend.

I would like to thank everyone who had anything to do with organizing or helping with the event.
Carl for making it happen and Norm for doing the trials event.

It was great to see old friends and I made a bunch of new ones.

Thanks for supporting and attending this hopefully
annual Ottawa unicycle event.

I will be there for OUI’05 !

Cheers,
Darren

Few words on OUI '04

This trip to Ottawa was another epic weekend.

Friday night, after an hilarious drive to Ottawa, we’ve got kicked out of our improvised camping site by the cops, so we drove to the Roth’s place and slept right on the grass of the Nainamo park. When I woke up, a bunny was 2 feet from us, and we took a picture of Simon Thémens sleeping under the pine tree.

Saturday was sunny, great trials lines, awesome riders. Perfect.

I’ve got addicted to the BCwheel thanks to Ryan.

The Roth’s BBQ was excellent, spiced up with Darren’s illegal fireworks! The Roths are very nice and cordial people.

The Muni on sunday was really cool. Some technical sections, good riding, and featuring 2 consecutive dives in the pond by John Denham (unigeee)!

Thanks to everyone who made that awesome meeting possible!

See you next time,
Vincent

Yes, this event was an absolute blast. A big thanks to Carl, Norm, the entire Roth family, Darren and everyone who volunteered for making this event a success.

Uberprops definitely go to John for trying what most would not - the very sketchy pond crossing.

It was great to see so many unicyclists there.

'Till next year!

Awww…I wish I could’ve been there but NOooo it HAD to be right before my finals…:frowning:

Well, I hope I can be there next year…

definately an awsome weekend!!!

great lines, great riders. i always leaarn a lot at these events and i always improve my skills. the next skill to perfect of course is ‘sketchy pond crossing’. love those natural and semi-natural obstacles.darren and cathy were awsome, what a great family. they organized an event, prizes and food.

saw a brand new rider ridding all day and trying all sorts of stuff, saw a couple of riders rip it up seeing as it was their first event, i saw carl jr. and thomas improve massively since montreal and i saw darrens new t-shirt.

i’ll be in for 2005. i will best the pond.

thanks carl
