I’d guess that once upon a time, most of those units and their
sub-divisions made sense in terms of everyday practicality.
But what inspired the Babylonians to inflict the sexagesimal
system on us? I mean, base 60! We will never shake that one
off.

Lotta factors to 60: 1,2,3,4,5,6,10,12,15,20,30,60

Likewise, base 12 makes more sense than base 10 - more factors, easier to
express large numbers compactly…
