Hi Everybody,
Just wanted to invite you guys to the Top of the World Unicycle ride this
Sunday, May 31st at 4:00PM in Aliso Viejo. It is a fun off road adventure featured in many of the unigeezer videos!!! To get there take the freeway to Oso Pkwy. Take that towards the ocean which is towards Laguna Niguel, not Mission Viejo. It will turn into Pacific Park which will hit Canyon Vistas Rd. Make a left on Canyon Vistas and take that to the bottom of the hill. Make a left on Silkwood. Then a right on Bottlebrush, then a left on Hollyleaf. We will meet there at the end of the road. A Few of us will park at the bottom of the trail which is at the park on Canyon View to shuttle people back at the end. It should be a blast and I hope to see you all there!

Got it marked in my calendar! The way I get there, coming from the Redondo beach area, is 405 S. to the 73 (toll, but much faster) and exit Glenwood and go right (becomes pacific park dr.) to Canyon Vistas and turn right. It’s just the opposite for me.

Adam,
It sounds like fun. I will try to make it.
We are starting at the top of the hill? Shouldn’t we start at the bottom and ride up?
I think you might confusing the “top of the world”, which is where we would be riding to, with the top of Cholla. He wants us to simply start at the top of Cholla rather than hiking up it, since 99% if not all the club members would not be able to ride up it as it’s super steep and loose and severely routed in many sections. From the top of Cholla it is still several miles to the “top of the world”, and then on the way back we could drop into either Rockit or Lynx, than take cayote canyon back to the park.
Anybody who wants to can ride up the hill at the end! The best part of the ride comes after the hill any way which is not that technical. The ride should be a blast and there will be plenty of challenges along the way for all levels of unicyclists!
i should be able to make it.
At present it looks like I will make it. I will probably park at the Park and ride up to meet you guys at the top of Cholla.
I’ll meet you there at 3pm and go with you! We’ll see who makes it all the way up without a dismount…or who has the fewest!
(you’re 4 years younger so you have the edge, age-wise, so you’ll probably win haha!
)
I hate to disappoint you but I hike up 98% of Cholla. I only go that way to add to my workout. But I will be glad to count your dismounts for you on the way up.
Haha, deal. There’s another amazingly steep climb, albeit not as long, about half way to top of the world, that makes the steepest part of Cholla look flat! I’ve made it all the way up on three separate ocassions, but after grunting my way up cholla, I may be pretty much spent! We’ll see.
I might show up early and try to ride up Cholla with you. I have not made it very far in the past, but it might be fun to try it again.
Haha, the more the merrier…and so far we’re all in that half century age range, so good company lol!
i don’t know if i will be able to go. I may be at disneyland. we have 2fer tickets that expire soon.
Take your uni to DL and ride it inside! And while you’re there, try riding the skinnies of the monorail!
I may be bringing a new rider from my area! He has caught the MUni bug!
Sweet come on down, Tyler, I hope you can make it as we dont do this too often, but Disneyland is fun too so I wont be hurt!
Stair Stepper - good little Aliso run. Almost saw Uni Geezer bust his spine on this one - left a wicked welt on his back.
the weather is looking good for the ride. It should not be too hot. I hope to see a good showing for this off road adventure!!
I’m in for 3:00 at the park. Jamey is the only one I’ve seen ride Cholla to the top. I’ll be impressed if you make it Terry. I’m with mtnjeffe, walking most of it.
