opinions on HD video cameras

hi i was wondering what the best HD video camera would be for the price so any suggestions would be nice could you list some of the pros and cons that would very much appreciated thank you i really don’t have a budget because it might be a birthday present :D;)

After much research I finally ordered this! I also got a 5 hour battery and clear filter to protect the lens. Next I’m getting a wide angle and fisheye lens.

that does look there nice i think i have seen it somewhere so is it nice? anything that you dont like about it and good idea for the battery

a little bad in poor lighting (like every other camera)

Stock battery lasts around an hour

other than that its fantastic. amazing camera.

ok good then ill look into it thank you every one

JVC gx-hd7…nice cam, bad battery. amazing picture, pain in the ass to get the files to a useable format and get the code jacket off, at least w/ my low RAMed computer

lol i hate cameras that do that the one i have now had that problem

My new Canon HV30 arrives next Wednesday! I can’t wait to start making new videos with it in true HD!

hope it works out keep me posted on how nice it is

thanks in advance

I hope you don’t get ripped off from them. They are supposed to be a rip off place. They might send you a grey market camera, which means no warranty, and they will try to sell you a bunch of high priced accessories. Maybe they have changed their ways. I would cancel the order and buy from some place reputable like B&H Photo if it is not too late.

Terry,

Tell us about the camera! Post your new uni vids!

Billy

Where did you get your information? I know that there are some forums online that you can find that bash just about any online store. I received the camera in perfect brand new condition with full USA warranty and all included accessories; not “gray” market. They also clearly state on their website that the camera I ordered is a “US Domestic model”. “Import models” are not covered by US Warranty. If it was determined that they sold me something other than specified, they would be liable and could be sued for fraud.

I just got off the phone with a Canon rep. and he verified that mine is a US model and I also registered it with the rep and online as well. Really nice guy and one feature I didn’t know about is that you can shoot in HD, but “down convert” to standard def for uploading and editing with software that doesn’t support HD editing…like MM!

But I can still shoot the footage in HD so that later when I get better editing software that does support HD, I’ll still have that footage. Pertty cool. Well, now it’s back to the stair building!

Is it mini-disc, mini DVTape, or Hard Drive?

What about this one?

What is a “hybrid” camcorder?

DV tape, which I prefer.

I do too, but it’s getting harder to find those camcorders.

I’m thinking memory stick could hold LOTS of hours too, though.

That info about Broadway Photo has been around for years. Maybe they finally changed their ways. Glad to see you where not ripped off, but a lot of people in the past have been. I was just trying to spare you some grief. Glad to see everything worked out. Looking forward to your new videos with your new camera.

Not hard to find for me! The HV30 is a current model High def camcorder and readily available. “MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders.”

Yeah thanks I’m glad I got what they advertised! But I had already orderd it and it was in UPS transit when I first ready your post, so it was too late anyway lol.

That was 2 years ago! I think a lot has changed since then.
