One foot... But where?!

Hi all,
Lately I’ve been learning to ride backwards, and I am doing relitively well (average 7 revolutions) for one week of practice. There is just one problem I am having. When I get to the 6th rev. my foot attracts behind me causing me to fall on my face(and I really don’t like the tast of pavement so this is BAD). As of now I place my foot about three inches above my peddle. Is this the wrong place to put it? And is it normal for the lifted foot to attract to the back of the rider?

Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

                                                                              Avery

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “I place my foot about three inches
above my peddle.” Ideally you want the fleshy bit of your foot just behind
the toes directly above the pedal. It sounds like your foot is slipping
off behind the pedals and as a result you’re falling forwards (or vice
versa). In either case, you could benefit from leaning back slightly. This
may make you feel like you want to go a lot faster, but as some others
have said, resist this urge. If your feet slip off while going fast
backwards you’ll hit the back of your head rather than faceplanting.

My bad man,
When I said I’ve been learning to ride backwards I ment to say I’ve been learning to ride one footed. I had just read another thread about riding backwards so I guess my mind was still there.

At any rate I have been learning to ride backwards also with this problem so your advice has helped me anyway. Thanks

sorry for the confusion
