On One Wheel

Yesterdays breakfast was made all the more plesent by the Arrival of On
One Wheel in the post while I was eating. I do like getting a unicycle
magazine, looks like I’ll be continuing my USA membership…

What’s impressive is that it arrived the same day for me in New Zealand!
How did they manage that?

An excellent issue too, congratulations to Tanya and Tammy for picking up
the mantle of Connie. I look forward to next issue.

I am very happy for Sarah. (Really, I am). Just wondering (boo hoo) where
my (waaaa!) copy of On One Wheel is. I live in New Jersey.

(I’m going off to have a good cry now).

Ok, I don’t have to cry anymore. My copy of On One Wheel got here on
Monday, May 15th. What’s up with the US mail that the UK and NZ are
getting it first?

The USA members overseas, get their issue of the OOW faster because it’s sent via 1st class airmail. Whereas most USA members from the US get their copy through bulk mail which is 4th class and takes a little longer. There is an option for anyone to get their issue through airmail for a $10 extra (see http://www.unicycling.org/usa/join/ for the options).

OOW Preview Now Online and Talk Back Forums

The preview of the latest issue of On One Wheel is now available on the web at http://www.unicycling.org/usa/oow/25-4, it contains a couple pictures (with more coming this week on the site) as well as a preview of some of the articles.

Then, once you read through your issue of the On One Wheel, come talk with the authors, editors, and the readers in the On One Wheel Talk Balk forums at http://www.unicycling.org/usa/forums!

Maybe its a similar distance from The USA post office to NZ as to the UK?
Or maybe airmail just take the smae time where ever. I guess it takes a
day to get from US domestic to the air mail centre then another day in and
around an airport before it flyes, then in Nz or Uk I expect it sits
around for another day before getting to your local post sorting centre.
Now if I was somewhere really remote I surpose it wold take longer , any
unicyclists in the shetlands members of the USA?

Don’t worry, it’s the fact that the people outside the US are getting
theirs by airmail. That’s why they have to pay more for membership.
Meanwhile, the USA makes a bigger margin on domestic memberships, which
are sent via bulk mail.

Because bulk is more complicated to prepare for mailing, and requires a
trip to the post office when it’s open, the foreign issues often get
mailed first. Then bulk is quirky. Some people get their newsletters
really fast, while sometimes it seems to take forever.

For me it’s still forever. I’m crying, I haven’t got mine yet!

Yeah what’s up with the US Mail? USA just received a batch of applications
for membership, including mine, which I sent in FEBRUARY. Apparently
others in the batch were dated last October.
