I bought an old piano the other day and had it delivered yesterday with its matching bench, packed full of sheet music. I couldn’t believe what I found! COUNTERFEIT $20 bills printed out on a sheet! No, this doens’t appear to be something a kid was fooling around with.
There was a single $20 printed on a what seems to be a “Master” sheet, with a separate sheet for the back of the bill. Then 2 complete proofs printed on what feels like the real thing fronts and backs ready to cut out and spend!
I’ve found LOTS of unusual stuff inside pianos, but this takes the cake!
Spooky. I think you could get into trouble for simply possessing these. Did you get it direct from the previous owner, or through some estate sale or something?
If we don’t hear from MuniAddict in the next few days we’ll know why.
Were they able to duplicate any of the anti-counterfitting features of the new 20? Like the thread that says TWENTY and the watermark (I think that style of 20 has a watermark).
I picked up a $100 bill somewhere along my travel. I checked it at a bank and oooh it was fake. They said just to make sure not to try to spend it. It is a bit larger than a normal bill but is hard to spot. I did write fake across it though. If such talent was put to good use it could go far.
Is blackmailing legal? You could ask for money from the people you bought the piano from and promise you won’t let the police know…tons of possibilities:)
