They are very cool, that’s what. I recall seeing them on telly a while back; the riders (?) were gliding effortlessly around, doing spins, slides, going backwards… imagine transportation and Swan Lake at the same time.
I want one…
Phil, just me
I could swear that its a vacuum cleaner. With a jetpack.
No… it doesn’t suck.
Hint: It blows.
!
Its a minny hovercraft! cool!
Cheater! You peeked!
Unfortunately, it’s a very expensive type of cool.
Yours for only $15,000 … at Hammacher Schlemmer!
… and it doesn’t do hills, either!
I believe they are one of many crazy modes of transportation contrived by the Australians (real-ly). Have a link around here someplace…

i just watched Glengary Glenross.
is there a lawnmower version?
I NEVER PEEKED!!!
I saw a show called high tech toys along time ago and that little contrapsion just stuck in my mind:D
Re: I NEVER PEEKED!!!
Well…
OK.
Sorry!
Congrats on your memory!
Yes, but I think it belongs to Danny Colyer…
Yup! There it is!
yeah,i still have the video of him in action.
hey
i would like to see that video!
i cant remember where i downloaded it from,it was a long time ago.maybe someone has the link?
Geez a penny farthing from that place is $5,000!
A hovercraft is only 21,000 I better jump on that deal;)
That is one sweet hovercraft. Although it is on the pricey side, i’d rather buy a uni. Or alot of uni’s, or maybe a hover uni.
Yeah, Hammacher Schlemmer is the place to go when you have more money than you know what to do with, and don’t care about spending two or three times as much as you would anywhere else.
The coolest thing in their online catalog (well, the thing that I want) is their Briefcase Theremin.
Here is the hovercraft manufacturer’s site.
Scroll down to No. 2, and there’s an MPEG clip (a bit large, so a slow download) of the “Airboard” in action.
Pretty silly. Contemporary George Jetson going to work.
Apparently, the company’s out of New York, but the hovercrafts are built in Australia.
Notice that the site is FULL of safety regulations, none of which are upheld in the company’s own photos and video!
Like this one: “riders must refrain from riding close to where spectators are standing or walking”… well, just watch the video.
Oh, yeah… turn your volume way down before you watch the video!
That place is nuts! I really want the stand up snowmobile!
Hehehe, just one ski.
I just wish I was one of the people with enough money to spend on all of this really weird stuff!
