I started learning to ride my unicycle today using the wall of my garage as a brace with one hand. I practiced an hour in four 15 min sessions. I am feeling a lot more comfortable on the uni now but I can see I have a long way to go before I will be able to pedal alone. I can teel that this will be very good exersize because I feel like like I was logging all day or something. I am 51 years old and I can ride my bike for hours and not feel this stiff. This is the biggest challange that I have had in a long time.
Most people I know stick with it for 15 seconds, congraduations keep this up and you’ll be moving ahead by leaps and bounds.
I wouldn’t be in too big of a hurry to leave the wall yet, get the basics down, weight on seat, look straight ahead, back straight, and get used to how everything feels. The thing about letting go is knowing when to pedal, how fast, when to stop or slow down so as to keep the unicycle in under you. Most important thing is knowing how to fall off though, hehe. Wait, the real most important thing is to have fun, yeah.
