off roaders

Just wondering if you all have a preference of 24" tires or 26" tires for off roading. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thanks.

Aj

26". When I say 26" it includes the 24 x 3" Gazzalodi, which is essentially 26" in diameter. I think a lot of today’s confusion between 24" and 26" for MUni is the popularity of the 24 x 3" Gazz, which uses a 24" rim, but has the diameter of the average mountain bike tire.

I agree with John Foss. Get the smaller rim, larger tire. I’ve got a 24x2.6", and my friend has a 26x2.0, and he is beginning to wish he had a smaller rim like mine. I’m basing this on very little, but that’s my personal take.

But I said 26"! (including 24 x 3" Gazz)

If you do more hopping and technical stuff, a smaller tire will serve you well. If you have lots of miles to cover and your trails are not too technical for you to be happy, go bigger.

Smaller wheels are also going to hold up better to big drops.

I ride a 24x3 Gazz on my Muni and love it on the dirt!!!
If you already have a 24" frame, be careful be before purchasing a 24x3 Gazz as the height of the tire sometimes require a 26" frame for ample clearance.

BigWheelTex, where are you located? If you’re in Texas (the San Antonio area) I’ve got a 28" and a 24x3 you could try out

Oh, but only if he’s in the San Antonio area. Come on, Texas isn’t that big

Well, Texas may not be THAT big, but from where I live, I can drive west 500 miles, east 400 miles, north 400 miles without leaving the state!!!

If I head south, less than 175 miles, I can not only leave the state, but I’ll also leave the country!!!:D:)

I feel a Bob Wills moment coming on…:stuck_out_tongue:

Well that is why he should use a Coker Cuzz it’s TEXAS MAN it has to be big or nothing

I thought that Texas was a small state. It depends on whate you compare it
to…
I live in Queensland (more than twice the size of Texas), Australia.
