So New Zealand won it’s bid against South Africa (sorry GILD :p) and Japan to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup. I think its awesome such a small nation like us (we’re only 4 million people if ya didn’t know) can still host such a big event.
Does anyone else here follow Rugby/know what it is? If so what are your views on NZ being host to the biggest Rugby event.
Dunno why I started the thread but I guess if anyone actually has any views on the subject post them here. Or if you like Rugby have a chat. Rugby’s NZ’s national sport and we’re not bad at it so yeah pretty big for us.
That’s pretty sweet man. I played rugby in highschool, I was our number 8. I’ve broken my nose 9 times thanks to rugby as well. It’s the best sport going… besides you know, chess.
Congrats. As I mentioned in MR, I don’t know what your bid team did to pull back what seemed like a lost cause on wednesday but whatever they did, they did it well.
After hosting the inaugural tournament in 1987 (and actually inviting South Africa, we declined, but thanx for that anyway), it’s kinda fitting that it should go back to you’s again at some stage.
I used to play intermural rugby in high school. Our H.S. football coach hated seeing us playing such things on the outside for fear that we would be injured and not be able to play football. But it was a blast! 'Dem were da days.
