Re: Nuc 99 Videos

Is there any way the videos could be made available in .asf (mpeg4) format on
the net? With the unicycle community being as small and generous as it is, I
dont think the bandwidth needed will be that big of a problem to provide… by
various contributers, myself included. I think the prices for the videos are
reasonable for the many modem users out there, but for those few of us with
dedicated network connections could sure benefit from the online availability
of them and the ease, convencience, of getting them right after the
conventions etc…

Depending on the number of orders, that could be more expensive or less
expensive to produce and distribute. How much would you be willing to pay for an
online version?

It sounds like its more valuable to you than tapes. How much extra would you pay
for the extra work of encoding and setting up?

The marginal cost of another copy is small – it’s just bandwidth. But the
marginal cost of another tape is also small – it’s just another tape copied and
stuck in the mail. I’m guessing that most of the money goes to producing the
tape, and perhaps to general USA funds.

Actually I was suggesting the video files be made available for free, to those
willing to download it. The space and bandwith would be provided by users, on
spare university space, at isp’s, etc.

If I’m going to pay for anything I’d prefer a hard copy, on cd or dvd, tape or
what have you… but my suggestion was making it freely available, given that the
storage and bandwith would be contributed by people…
