NUC 99 very quick review

For those of you who haven’t had a chance to watch the Convention and Public
show videos yet here are a few quick thoughts.

The convention tape starts out well but loses a little steam. The biggest
disappointment is that they don’t use the original music for the expert
freestyle routines. They do for the age group routines which makes you wonder.

There is a good range of material including standard skill, freestyle, club
routines, group routines, racing, jumping, the public show, marathon, Muni and
trials. There are some nice film techniques used including a split screen to
show two routines at the same time. This works well and means just about
everyone gets some air time. The focus seems to be a little more on the
younger riders. There isn’t much repetition and the filming as a whole is of a
decent quality.

The public show features everything although a few of the acts have been filmed
from above. Unfortunately this is not the best angle for some things. If you
want to re-live Lars in a green balloon or the beer routine, they are there.

Hope that helps, Peter
