yay! I can’t wait!

yay i’m going this year

Minnesota–Unicycling Capitol of the US

Why are all these cool unicycling events out in Minnesota away from everyone else? I wish we could get some more unicycling events out east, particularly in the DC area!! Also, why does it seem like there are more unicycle riders and activities in Minnesota than anywhere else in the US?

I’ll be there.

Because Minnesota has the largest unicycle club in the US

I shall go. But I won’t be there for the first couple days.

Why? That’s kind of a slap in the face knowing you live in the same state.

Im going

Not only did I get approval from the wife to go, but she is coming along with my daughter and me. We are driving from Olympia, Washington. We already are pricing out bike racks for the Prius.

Does anyone know whether or not there will be a junior group in street/flat/trials/everything?

Me, my mom and a friend or two are driving 2000 miles from California.

Yes there will be different skill level categories for these events.
Trials - beginner, Intermdiate & Expert
Street & Flat - Advanced & Expert
Advanced is anyone not competing in Expert, including beginners

Last years flatland advanced category had only 3 competitors - 2 beginners and 1 who registered to bring the participant total to 3 which allowed the other 2 to participate. I guess I’m trying to say that there is opportunity to participate for all skill levels of street flat & trials.

Okay thanks. I don’t think I’m Expert, but I’m not really a beginner either. I think I’ll go in advanced.

Are they going to have separate racing categories for the 10k and marathon for geared and ungeared?

There’s Limited and Unlimited.

Limited riders must ride a 24"or lower, and have cranks no shorter than 125mm. (assuming they are over 10 years old)

Unlimited riders can just ride whatever the hell they want. A geared uni would fit under this category.

At least this is how they did it in the past few years.

Any links to sites with pics of the muni trails?

It’s up to the organizers. I’m sure the racing officials are well aware of the growth of the geared uni population, and how they are starting to dominate in road races. But then there’s the complexity of wheel size vs. gearing. What about a geared 24"? Make them compete with geared 36ers?

The nice thing about a category called Unlimited is that whoever wins really wins. If you keep subdividing the field, you might be left wondering who’s really the fastest…

Both Flat and Street will have the same rules as Wuko? if yes I may go

Not sure, hard to choose between a roadtrip in Europe and only 5 days in USA!
