Norco KH24 Photos

I have uploaded photos of the seat, hub, my hairy hand, etc. to Webshots.

I’ll try to conscript someone to take some outdoor photos, if I get home before sunset tomorrow.

thanx Monty, you da man,no you dah man,no you:-)

Okay, now I really want it.

oh my god! you shouldn’t be allowed to own it when the rest of us have none

is it a 2 piece crank?

Do the cranks sound like a pumping ratchet?

Big deal ,it’s a wheel with orange paint.
I’m sure it’ll fall apart fast.
The seat looks cheap.

thanks for the pics. looks like a great uni. only one more request for now, another picture of the crank, not looking through the wheel.

The cranks don’t make any noise at all, so far. They appear to be welded up from a hollow section.

I’ll post a photo sometime later today.

Looking at the saddle photo and it has four bolts for fixing the handle on yet on the prototype Velo (no handle) there was two. Does anyone know if the Prototype KH had two or four bolts, as I can’t remember? Or is this one of the mods that was done.

Nice frame but I don’t like orange :frowning:

Gary

its an 8 splined hub like the dmatu used to have,
8 splined hubs are common on bmx, but you’d have to try bmx cranks to see if they are compatible.
ages ago someone in the industry told me that the norco hub would “be split in the middle” this is perhaps where the two peice crank rumor came from, how exactly it is split in the middle howver i can’t realy see.

monty, the privilage you have recived in being one of the first to get a norco KH uni means that you are duty bound to be one of the first to break one. happy dropping.

8 spline hubs are condsidered high end kit in the bmx world but everbody still bows down to the profiles.

that frame looks nice, will they be available seperatly?

p.s. my profile dosent squeek.

Yet…

the monty rim is nearing the end of its life span but no squeeks from the hub, it has seen plenty of drops and been fairly badly looked after,

the crank arms have loosend up a few times and had to be re-installed but no squeeks yet.

i suspect that i have a lucky profile, some squeek some don’t

mine dosent. ha ha ha.

mind you it could start squeeking one day but it can’t sound as bad as a monty crank rounding off the tapers on a suzue hub.

The hub is not split in the middle (or anywhere, for that matter).

As for breaking it - I’m just waiting for the weekend! It will get a good workout then; perhaps I’ll have more to report. But I expect Kris Holm has broken a few of these during the prototype phase!

Re: Norco KH24 Photos

I can’t believe you got the only one available in canada??
You must have a mob connection?

Re: Re: Norco KH24 Photos

Nope. Just lucky to have a tenacious Norco dealer nearby.

But I did put down a deposit on two of them at my LBS last spring, after talking to Kris. The store, longtime Norco dealer and good friend, checked with Norco and got the OK to take the order. When Kris mentioned that Unicycle.com may be the only source, I asked the store to re-check with Norco. They responded that the order would stand.

In the end, Norco only shipped one. I’ll have to go to Unicycle.com to get the other one.

fair enough, i guess i was missinformed and guilty of spreading insubstanciated rumors

i’ll plead guilty at the unicycle trials.

or maybee i can use the defence that my informat may have meant the pinch bolt cranks, which sort of have a split bit in the end.

Re: Norco KH24 Photos

My buddy looked at the pic,s and said ,I
could make one of those with my eyes closed, haha.

Have you done any big drops with it yet? How high do you think it’ll be able to drop from without any bending or general damage?

Thanks,
Andrew

Haven’t done anything bigger than off the porch, picnic table, etc. Unfortunately, work has overtaken my life, these last 2 weeks. And it gets dark here before I get home, now, so evening rides on the trails are out.

But the chromoly frame, 32-spoke wheel, and heavy-duty bearings in proper mounts make me think that it will be hard to bend. Time will tell, of course. For the money, it’s an excellent deal, in my opinion.
