Good luck and HAVE FUN.

Hey bmoney, welcome to the forum.

For starters, get your seat to the correct height.
Get used to stepping on and over the unicycle.
Put the seat between your legs, put the one pedal at the bottom and slightly facing you and then step up on that pedal.
The uni will roll in underneath you.
At first, just get use to stepping over the uni, so you get used to what it will be like getting off the uni.

When you’re ready, do the same, but sit on the uni.
Hold onto something sturdy, a wall, a fence, a really patient friend.
Get both feet on the pedals, get your weight on the seat, and slowly start moving forward by leaning forward and pedalling carefully.
It’s important that you keep your weight on the seat so your feet can pedal carefully.
When they have to carry your weight, they can’t pedal very carefully and the uni will lurch and roll out from underneath you and you’ll have to step off.
As we practised in step one.

let us know how you do with that and we’ll take you onto step three.

For the 7 hours I spent learning, the fence was my best and most patient friend. Friends can also be… unhappy, when they get thwacked in the shin with a pedal. Fences, though, they’re forever

Like others have said though, YouTube is heaven for a learner. The ExpertVillage videos helped me a lot, and once I got better, some of Terry’s videos helped too (only his mounting vid  ).

Plus, if you look at videos of other people learning, you might be able to pick out what they’re doing wrong, and you can use that knowledge to better yourself.

When you are able to ride 50 meters or so, then try and get to the first few levels of the IUF skill levels. (after around level 3, they’re a bit freestyle orientated and a bit excessive on the types of mount requirement).
