Gentlemen:
I am attempting to track down info on my grandfather. He came over from SW
England in the late 1800’s and performed with various circus and carnival shows
in the first 20 years of the 20th century; usually 2-3 days in any given town.
He retired to and is buried in Baltimore, MD.
Bert Martin, billed as “The Great Bertini,” rode a unicycle up a 1’ wide ramp on
the outside of a tubular framework to a height of 100’-150’. The diameter of the
framework was 15’-20’.
It is very difficult to track down info on circus performers and I was hoping
some of your people may have some suggestions. Your thoughts would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
