So if you didn’t know apple announced an iPod video today.
this is an ipod video thread so what is up with the title, it is suprisingly inexpensive for what it is 299 for a 60 gb model i said for what it is so no one should come on here and tear this reply apart because i said it was inexpensive
aside from the novelty, i’m wondering how it will be to watch video on a 2.5" screen? they need to ship a pair of glasses with each vid-pod!
<grandma voice> you’re gonna go blind watching that thing! don’t sit so close to the screen! </grandma voice>
we can’t tear your reply apart 'cause we can’t understand your run-on posts
I can’t help but agree with you, I tried reading it three times before giving up.

Well you can plug it into a TV. But until Apple makes more studio deals and gets more video content on iTunes, it’s pretty useless. Right now the only content available is music videos, the pixar shorts, and a couple of ABC shows. Hopefully the content doesn’t stay Disney exclusive.
I like their Tv show idea, you download a commercial free episode of a show the day after it airs for $1.99 or you can buy the whole season for $34.99. For that price it’s almost easier than setting a tape.
Can’t you play your own videos on it?
Convert/compress it down to ipod video format?
Seems a bit rubbish if you can’t.

In the selling points they say it’ll play home movies. so yes and no. Their biggest obstacle though is keeping it in a form that won’t allow illegally downloaded movies to be played on it, since Apple is trying to work with the content providers and not against them.
Maybe I’m just getting old, but why would anyone want to watch videos on a tiny screen? I’m sure the apple zealots will buy it up anyway.
dude his thread is easy to understand learn how to read
Oh, thats good.
Then why not just skip the thing and go straight to the TV?
COOL, you can pay $300 to watch TV on your own TV!!
In a later announcment, they said that since the screen was so small, you would only be able to watch Danny DeVito videos.
I think it’s kinda cool, but I’m gonna get a smaller one anyway. I don’t need music videos at my beck and call, and I really don’t care for the TV stuff. I just want music, and it seems a nano is much better for that. If the video one had a bigger screen (psp style) and you could get movies for it I might consider it, but as of now, I don’t really think I want one. Not even a little.
Is that another one of them thar cell phones?
Too wee.
I just heard that Tom Cruise and Prince are joining forces with Danny Devito to make a new film for it’s launch.

I grew up in a culture where the written language had punctuation and capitalization in it. I still find it difficult to decipher texts that do not contain either in any great quantity.

Apple now is in need for video content in iTunes for the video-pod’s;
they just realeased Pixar’s (another company ‘owned’ by Steve Jobs) unicycle movie “Red’s dream”!
My friends and I have been watching videos (and basically the entire adult swim line-up) on the amazing Iriver H320/H340 for a year now at least. There have to be at least 12 other DAPs that do the same thing. Once again, Apple makes an Ipod late in the game thats not quite as good as the competition, and everyone will buy them as fast as they can.
Apple waited to release the iPod video until they had deals in place to provide content. Technology-wise they could have released the iPod video quite a while ago. They didn’t though because there was no readily available legal content to play on it. It was the deal with ABC that finally got the iPod video on the market, not the technology.
