Nintendo reveals the Revolutions controler

holy crap!

make sure to read the whole thing b4 you laugh. its going to change gaming big time…, now i know why they didnt want to reveal it…how much do you want to bet that xbox and Sony’s colletive chins just dropped to the floor.

Hmmmmm. I read the article, but Im not sure whats so great about it? Sure, it might be more comfterble, and its wireless, but besides that, whats so great about it.

What’d I miss?

Im just speculating, but I would think it would be annoying to hold IMO.

probably works well with the 6 year olds nintendo games market

probably allows you to drop blocks in holes nicely or something

maybe allows super mario cart to hold one more weapon

imagine the games that playstation and xbox are coming out with that they had time to develop while nintendo made a controller…that should work well with the 4 games they make for it in the next 3 years

People are allways skeptical whenever Nintendo does something different, but it always proves to be the greatest advancement in gaming at the time. When the N64 came out, everone thought the controller was a joke. It turned out to be the best console controler ever created. Maybe the same will be true for this thing too.

Yes, the N64 did have very crappy games compared to the uhh…wait… it had the best games on the market at the time! Dude, you have to take era into consideration.

I am awed and frightend all it one. Though it looks totally awesome I dont know how they are going to do multi systems games any more. I fear for unisoft. Though they will likely figure something out. Im not sure what consol to get first now the nintendo or the new xbox.

i’ll have to play it to see for sure. if the motion sensor thing is as awesome as i’m thinking, it could be fun, but most likely it’ll be a tad less cool than it should be. imagine how during a long gaming session you’d like to be able to push a button to swing your sword, rather than having to move your whole arm.

the new xbox looks to be amazing though. and i’m not a huge fan of the current one.

From a marketing standpoint, it’s genius. Think of all the specialized dongles they could sell for it.

I like it because when it’s turned sideways, it looks like an NES controller. Hopefully it will be able to function like one.

I still think they should make controllers for cars, Who the heck wants to turn a dang wheel. I think everyone would be better drivers with a controller, i mean, the average new driver is trained.

OMG

You realize what this means, right? Mouse style sensitivity in consol FPS!! Imagine halo with this controller, or Metroid 1 and 2. In fact, they did.

Demo 8: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Finally, the last demo of the day showed off the analog-stick attachment for the controller–which Nintendo reps likened to a nunchaku–and it was revealed how you could use it in conjunction with the main unit to play a game. In this case, the GameCube’s Metroid Prime 2: Echoes was redone to include support for the Revolution controller and the analog attachment. The demo let you play through one of the early areas in the game, which felt considerably different from the original GameCube game. The attachment basically gave the game a much more PC-first-person-shooter feel thanks to the ability to free-look and aim with the main controller by moving it anywhere you wanted. The analog stick controlled your movement. The A button let you jump, while the B button fired your weapon. The shoulder buttons on the analog attachment let you switch visors, scan, and lock on to targets, although the lock-on feature was less necessary thanks to the precision firing available via just looking around with the controller. You could shift to the morph ball by pressing the select button on the main controller’s face, which felt surprisingly comfortable to do in the middle of action.

That’s going to be one of the greatest advancement ever!

The Sega Dreamcast has THE BEST controller, without a doubt, and I know many hardcore gamers, including myself that would defend it as such.

The revolutions controller should be a revolutionary one, but I bet that Nintendo comes out with several different types of controllers eventually.

I cant wait for PS3, myself, but I know I’ll probably buy the Revolution first.

Oh, and SNES kicks the N64’s ass. Super Smash Bros, Perfect Dark, and Mario Kart 64, are one of the few games that were really good on the 64. SNES has 50-100 titles that put all N64 games to shame.
