yesterday I started practicing hopping with my Nimbus Nightrider with the interest of hopping up curbs. when I was practicing, I got the feeling that the uni wouldn’t be able to handle too much hopping.
What do you all think about the Nimbus Nightriders ability to hold up against hopping?
I had one with with an Airfoil rim and did some XC style MUni and took it off drops up to 18". I have wrecked a couple pairs of cranks but the rest of the uni was fine.
Make sure that the wheel is properly trued and tensioned before you do anything real rough though. Mine came with the worst wheel build I have ever seen and had to fix it before going for a ride.
My coker has one of the older single walled steel rims and I hop up and down curbs and stairs all the time and my rim is still perfectly true. The Nightrider can definitely handle it.
Ok cool, thanks guys I’ll keep practicing
btw, how high can you all jump on your 36 inch wheels?
I can usually side hop up a curb but that is about it. I can plow over a lot of stuff I cant hop on a 36er.
