Nimbus double quick release seatpost clamp

I never had any luck with my Oracle’s double quick release - couldn’t get it tight enough to keep the seatpost from twisting around after a UPD. I tried friction paste on the post, no help. Eventually I ruined the QR by getting it so tight that it wrecked the bushing the cams rotate on.

It might come down to exactly how close a fit the post is in the frame; I’m sure there’s some variation there.

Thanks guys, glad it wasn’t just me. I did notice the double quick release doesn’t operate very smooth as compared to quick release clamps I have on my bikes (when you close the lever you can actually feel the clamp closing down on the post). Oh well, it was a nice thought. Back to the bolts

The double quick came with my Oracle 29 frame that just became part of a custom build in the last few days. Kinda like a double Allen bolt clamp you need to ‘walk’ the top and bottom clamps down to get a really tight grip. Alternatively tightening one then the other…

I also bought a regular seat clamp just in case : ) this is a common issue. And I upd as much if not more than most so a sure seat clamp is a must.

This is the technique that works for me. I tighten one bolt just enough to hold the seat post up and then tighten the other one so much I can just barely close it. Then I do the looser one and ratchet down through another iteration or two.
