Nimbus Disk Brake 100mm hub

Roger, can you please confirm that testing included 29" wheels?
Thanks, as I’m very interested in the new hub.

GOD thoes hubs are just DANG

I wouldn’t have thought it would make much difference but I’m having one on my KH29

Bikes happily use 29" wheels now with disk hubs that are even narrower because they have the rear block on the hub as well, therefore the spoke distances, dishing etc on this hub shouldn’t be a problem. Force on the hub wise, the wider disk hubs have been used on 36ers for a while now with no ill affects.

I have been watching UDC USA site (obsessively) in anticipation of the release of the Oracle. I noticed the Nimbus 24" MUni is back in-stock affirming Roger’s assertion that they are not discontinuing the non-disc-brake (it has Magura mounts) model. It will be interesting to see how much a DIYer could save buying one of these, a d’brake adaptor, and a 100mm disc brake hub instead of buying an Oracle with the hydraulic disc brake fitted-straight-out-of-the-box.

Me, I will be going the Oracle route. The 26er to be specific though (reading the tea leaves) it looks like UDC USA might only release the 24" version at first because one would have to follow the UDC UK blog to read the specifications for the I feared, it lists the Duro Wildlife Leopard 26 x 3″ as standard so I will need to buy a 26x2.5(or 2.7?) Maxis High Roller. You may also notice the cranks have lengthened from 150s on the 24" to 165s on the 26" presumably due to a decrease in the risk of pedal strike.

I will wait before I customize my Oracle too much. I trust UDC implicitly. I want to give it a chance and ride it “the way that it was designed to be ridden” the same as I did with the Impulse. I would suggest anyone do the same.

Will someone please start an “official Nimbus Oracle” thread already? I hate to ressurect this topic but I generally don’t start new threads.
