We had our end of season H.S. soccer banquet tonight. After the dinner and after all the awards were handed out, the team presented each of the coaches with a restaurant gift certificate and a neat little something, I’m not quite sure what it is. But I think it’s terrific and thought I’d share it with you.
It’s a lighted polymer cube with a bubbled soccer player inside. The cube sits on a rotating pedistal and the color of the man changes as the cube rotates. It’s pretty nifty if you ask me. Ben says he’s seen the type of thing before but I haven’t. I think I’ll take it to work and set it in my office.
End of the season but the next season, 20 weeks of indoor, starts Saturday.

I believe that they make those by directing two lasers through the cube of glass to an xyz coordinate within the glass. at the point where the two lasers meet, there is a small bubble of air created. by moving the lasers they are able to create more and more bubbles. by using some sort of CAD program, coupled with lasers and motors, they can design shapes (and soccer players with balls!) inside of the glass.
I definately think they should make a unicyclist, too!

I’ve also seen simmilar products around. Mostly on flea-markets. I’ve never seen a ‘bring-a-pic’ version before.
my step dad has a guy that makes them but just the solid part, and it doesnt light, they do that at walgreenz also, but that one is definitly not from there.

My partner here at work just spent three days in Vegas on vacation. He says they create them there for you while you wait for a mere $80. They have to be much cheaper elsewhere, but that’s Vegas for you.
Habbywall, yep indoor starts Saturday. Brad has his last regular outdoor season club game on Saturday so the team will have to forfeit their first indoor game. Ben starts indoor on Sunday. Which all means that we’re driving to DeKalb every Saturday and Sunday for games. Nothing out of the ordinary, though.
Actually, they are that expensive if not more everywhere. In the mall here in Silverdale, they have them in a Naturium store for $50 to $150 in all different sizes.

Sometimes it’s pretty confusing when you’re scanning thru the forum to know what is post and what is sig. In my opinion, 5 lines are plenty.
