Next Coker upgrade

I haven’t ridden it more than around the block, but I put a GB handle on my
Coker and it seems pretty nice. You can vary the angle by using washers and
I only had to drill one extra hole in my seat which now fits 3 different
handles with 6 holes. Having the cyclometer easily visible while riding
seems nice, although all the slack in the wire is used up. If I end up using
this a lot I may switch to wireless as I did on my mountain bike.

Two photos are at http://tinyurl.com/17y2 (the first and the last photos of
the album).

I’ll do a review in a few weeks when I’ve ridden it a bit.

when I put my gb handle on my coker my computer’s wire was barely long enough to fit in on. I rode to the bike shop to look around and the mechanic there saw that the wire was too short so he took my wheel in back and some how put on a very long cord that was more than long enough to fit on the handle. Not a very good description, I know, but just go to your local bike shop and see if they can help. Or you could just go wireless like you said. I ramble, I know. Sorry.

I bought a GB handle and an aloy wheel over a month ago and have been too busy to install either of them.

Cant wait to finaly make the switch though.

the super long cord was probobly for a tandem.they make them long for the stoker seat too.i dont think that every brand does though.may be a good question to ask before purchase.

support your LBS !

There’s one here locally that sold me my 24" POS about 12 years ago. I took
it back the next day since it had a flat (I hadn’t even ridden it). They
fixed it but put a zig-zag on the seat post, cut the seat, and dinged the
pedals. They denied doing it, but admitted the owners son was trying to
learn! I’ve given them 12 years of reviews to friends and acquaintances.
The LBS that I frequent now has one employee that does trials uni, is
supportive of unicycling, and supplies used gear (bicycle) to students who
can’t afford anything else.

Unicycle dot com is a great place, but remember the local guys for what they
can support.

A rear wheel sensor kit will have a wire long enough to run from your wheel to your handle. I can get one of these for my Sigma BC 800 for under $10 and it has a 46" wire.

I have purchased computers and rear wheel kits from Branford Bike. They specifically address non bicycle mounting situations (inline skates, tractors, motorcycles, racing karts, etc.) on their website:

http://www.branfordbike.com/computer/compute.html

You could also lengthen a mount by splicing in some more wire.

I personally have not had great luck with wireless computers on my Coker, though my seat height (and therefore computer height) is taller than most riders.

Re: Re: Next Coker upgrade

True… I worked for one this summer. But my experiences with bike shops as a unicyclist have been mixed at best. At one, during a conversation about improving one unicycle, the owner (a former unicyclist himself) exclaimed, “But it’s just a unicycle!”

Go figure.
