Newsgroup inapropriate posts.

So far i’ve come across two threads that have obnoxious posts from newsgroup users. Anyone know what that’s all about? Can you add them to your ignore list?

Here’s one thread, I cant find the other:

[THREAD]69066[/THREAD]

I was just about to say the same thing. And what is a newsgroup user, exactly? It’s impossible to put them on your ignore list, as far as I can tell. Can Gilby make it possible?

The newsgroup postings are from Usenet.

A brief history lesson. The unicycling discussion group started back in 1993 as an email list. They then created a Usenet group called rec.sport.unicycling in 1996. The group continued to exist as both an email list and a Usenet group. People could choose to get all the posts by email or subscribe to the Usenet group. Posts to the Usenet group were copied to the email list and vise versa.

Then Gilby made the Unicyclist.com forum. Posts to the web forum were copied to the Usenet group and also to the email list. That made three ways to get the unicycling discussion messages. The forum still copies all messages to the Usenet group and all messages in the Usenet group get copied to the forum.

The web forum has become the favorite way to access the group, but some people still use the Usenet way. Usenet readers have some advantages in that Usenet reader software generally makes it easier and quicker to read lots of messages. Web interfaces are slow and lots of clicking. So some people still prefer using the Usenet interface.

Usenet has problems with random messages and mass-reposting games. There problems with spam messages as well. Those messages make it to the forum and have to be dealt with by a moderator (Gilby).

If you see a random inappropriate posts from a Usenet user just ignore it and flag it for the moderator.

how do you flag a post?

lol, nevermind, its at the bottom left, under the user info, the red triangle w/ the ! in it.

They have both made me laugh.
