Newbie

Hi Andrew,

Your standing on the pedals sounds very familiar to my learning experience. It
was one of those twigging moments when I tried riding with my weight on the
seat and you’d be surprised what a difference it makes. The seat needs to be
high enough so that when you’re sitting with your weight on it and the pedals
are vertical the leg on the lower pedal should be only just bending

If you need a longer seat post try http://www.unicycle.uk.com/shop/shop.html and
look in the spares section for a seat post of the long variety (about ?5).

cheers, Neil

Thanks to y’all for your advice and support. My efforts continue.

I didn’t get the uni out over the weekend, but I did try again last night.

Using two chairs works well for me. I managed to cycle about 10 feet with my
best attempt.

Perhaps my saddle is too low - that is how it feels. When I was cycling I felt
much more that I was standing on the pedals with my backside off the saddle by
1/2 inch or so - that is probably why I need to clutch the saddle with my
thighs, as Pat Caldwell put it. The seat pillar is as far up as it will
go, however.

I will try again tonight and report back.

Andrew
