Newbie - progress report

I bought a new seat post for my Pashley - it was too long, so I used a pipe
cutter to reduce it again. This has made a big difference. I can now understand
what you lot mean about weight on the saddle versus weight on the pedals.

I had a couple of weeks where I didn’t get much chance to practice, but I got to
it again on Sunday.

Riding on the drive at the side of our house (concrete, with a slight downhill
slope) I was making good progress

For each 5 attempts 2 I rode 30 feet to the end of the drive and dismounted
2 I rode to the end, but had to lean on the wall at some point :expressionless: 1 I didn’t
even make low earth orbit, if you see what I mean :frowning:

Big improvement on a month ago where I couldn’t go more than a couple of feet.

I am still planning to go to the British Unicycle Convention next weekend. Does
anybody have a programme of events for Saturday? I figure that Sat would be
better than Sunday for me and my daughter to watch stuff going on. Is anybody
camping nearby?

We went to Towersey Village Festival yesterday - quite local to us. There’s
usually lots of Juggling and Unicycling there - it’s where I learnt to juggle,
and where I first unicycled. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t much
juggling or unicycling to watch - but it was VERY wet.

Re: Newbie - progress report

Andrew,

Well done on the riding, you will be able to do more practice at the weekend if
you do get there as there will be beginners/improvers workshops each day. As for

provisional
so times will change.

9.30-10.30 Canteen opens for breakfast
10.30-10.00 Unicycle Warm-up
11.30-12.00 Races and games - on Camping field
12.30-12.00 none-unicycling workshops.
13.00-14.30 Canteen opens for lunch
14.00-2.00 Open space in hall
15.10 Leave for hockey (Car journey)
16.30-16.30 Hockey at sports centre
17.45-15.45 Presentation by Dave Mariner of DM Engineering
18.00-19.00 Canteen opens for dinner
19.00-19.00 Local Muni ride
20.30-20.00 Workshops
21.00-23.00 Bar opens
22.00-23.00 Show opens
23.00-2.00 Open space in hall
24.00 Hall closes

I will post the final programme on the web page tomorrow if I can get everything
confirmed.

Camping is less than 50m away from the hall.
