Newbie asks "Coker = Rolls Royce ?"

Hello,

I see lots of excitement about Cokers

What is a Coker ? I get the impression of big wheel and high quality ie
the Rolls Royce of unicycles.

Is this correct ?

Bill

The picture doesn’t indicate how cool it is, but here’s where you can buy
one: http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=84

36" of high speed fun. Unfortunately at this price it is far from being
truly high quality, but it’s good enough to go most places in high style.

I have always equated the Coker to a Cadillac or Lincoln Continental…huge with a smooth ride but not particularly manueverable. The Rolls is a bit of a stretch. They are VERY fast and VERY cool looking which is a delightful combination. They are not particularly high quality but for $300 I do not know of any less expensive product with an equal amount of esthetic appeal. They are a masterpiece of kinetic art.

Here are three photos of me with mine. I like the yellow seat becuase it is colorful. I now have an air seat conversion. Hopefully several other people will give you links to photos of theirs. There are certainly alot of photos I have seen through this newsgroup

Hey Harper, that 1 foot idling picture/caption combo had me howling for minutes! Thanks alot. (Everyone look at the bottom right photo!)

Were you able to land that fall, or did it feel like it looks like it’s gonna?

That was a pose struck primarily to show off my stunning gams.

Harper is right about the Lincoln/Cadillac reference but he is such a big guy that he makes “The Big One” look more like “The Not So Big, But Rather Average One.”

I highly recommend you try to get your hands on one and experience the ride for yourself.

Here is a link to a couple of my Coker photos. www.unicyclist.com/gallery/costascd

Woah, Those are really nice pics. Very artistic. I am going to have to say the coker is more like a Ford Grand Marquis, for the same reasons as Harper, but I stay away from the Lincoln/caddy for one reason- Strength. I would like to see a stronger, wider hub on it, and then I’d say Lincoln.

Okay, maybe an old Caddy. One with curb feelers, loud pipes and a bad paint job. But I don’t know about the Grand Marquis.

While it wouldn’t have been my first choice, I can live with the stock hub for the time being. The thrill of the ride far outweighs the drawback of that one inferior component. I also ordered my ride with the Miyata sadle and quickly added an air seat conversion once I got my hands on it. They can keep the Viscount brick that they’re pushin’.

Thanks for the kind words about my photos. There will be more to follow.

what size cranks are you prefering at the moment?

the stock steel curvey ones feel skechy…

Jagur: Truth be known, I use stock cranks on my Coker.

Although I am sure that time will prove the short term victor, right now at least, the stock cranks work well while the rubber is on the road.

New cranks are one of the many modifications that I have planned for my future lean, mean lightweight commuting machine.

Ditto on the cool pics comment. Those are some nice images. Do you do
weddings?

David

Not unless you guys are getting married on unicycles. I usually steer clear of weddings.

It wouldn’t be a first. Teresa and Sem Abrahams married on unicycles.

It would be, IMAO, the Rolls-Royce of unicycles. It is not, however, the SUV
of unicycles

I’ve heard people compare it to setting cruise control on your unicycle. I
totally agree. I love my Hilda!
