These are some old clips of me from 1989. They are DivX encoded so to play
them in Windows you’ll need to download and install the DivX codec. It can
be obtained at www.divx.com. Once installed you should be able to play the
videos in windows media player or you can use the player included with the
DivX 4.02 bundle called ThePlaya.
The two giraffes in the videos are homemade.
I made 5 footer from an old ten-speed seat-tube and bottom bracket. I
welded the downtube directly under the bottom bracket and make the
fork from scratch. The hub is a BMX hub with a sprocket threaded
directly onto it.
The mini-giraffe frame is entirely made from scratch. It uses a
one-piece crankset from a bicycle. The hub is a kids bicycle coaster hub
with the sprocket welded directly to the hub. The rim is a 10" rim off
of an old scooter.
Anyway these are probably of most interest to me but just in case anyone
else wants to look they’re now online.
Incidentally I still have both of the giraffe unicycles. The 5 footer
needs a new tire though. And the fork on the mini-giraffe is poorly
designed such that the tire almost always rubs against it. It’s incredible
how manouverable a 10" wheel is though.
