As of Christmas, I have been riding for 1 year. I am currently 12 years old, but since I live near Boston, MA, I haven’t found an IUF official to test my level. I am doing level 4 and 5 tricks, and I ride a 16" Torker. I am wondering if I should get a new unicycle. I am looking to get a 16" Miyata Standard. My current unicycle is not running too well, either. I have 2 questions, should I get the new unicycle? and if you have any information about unicycle clubs in greater boston, please reply!
I can’t judge whether you should get a new unicycle. But IF you get one,
I’d recommend it to be a 20" rather than 16". More speed, more standard,
still amenable to all skills. A 16" may start to look negatively funny if
you are a couple of years older.

Thank you for the tip on the wheel size. After browsing through the unicyclesource.com catalog, I have decided not to get a Miyata(rather expensive). If you know of any good 20" unis, please e-mail me at unicyclekid@unicyclist.com.

I suspect that at your age you have a fairly low budget and that you’d be
most interested in trials. Maybe the “United Frame with Monty Wheel and
Miyata Saddle” at http://unicyclesource.com.control.interliant.com/Mercha-
nt2/miva.cgi?/Merchant2/4.00/merchant.mv+Screen=PROD&Store_Code=techie1&P-
roduct_Code=114535&Category_Code=cat51 would be about right. It has a
great seat, a fairly sturdy frame and not as steep a price as some others.
I agree with Klass that you’ll probably appreciate the 20" wheel
especially if you are growing.
The only drawback is the rounded fork crown rather than the flat top
crown. But you can’t have everything. Also… in cheaper unicycles that
have a flat crown it can actually be a weak spot.
