Welcome and good luck!

I live in northern NJ. You should come to a New York Unicycle Club meeting. I’ll be the guy with the purple Coker.

What’s your name mean? Are you into organic food? You said in another post you are in NJ near Philly. Do you drive to Pennsylvania to get raw (unpasteurized) milk? I do. If you are near Lawrenceville, check out Cherry Grove Farm for the best meat and eggs.

If the “organic” in your name means something else, then just ignore me completely…

It’s just a gaming name I picked up along the way. I’ll check out the NY club Thanks

Hey guys just started to put my uni together and noticed I’m going to have to cut almost half the seat post off to make it the right height. Does this seem right? I have an inseam of about 33".

Yeah, probably. A 300 or 400mm seatpost on top of a 24" wheel would make the seat pretty high for most people.

Needless to say, you can always cut again (although that would suck), so don’t take too much off (which would suck even more). On the other hand, you may someday want to lower the seat if you are doing trials or off-road riding. So don’t leave it too long either. You want some adjustability both up and down in case someone else wants to try your unicycle.

So, yeah, you may have to cut a lot off. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. Some seatposts are just way too long.

Cutting the seatpost is no big deal. If you have to do it to get it to fit good that’s fine. I had to cut quite a bit off of my second unicycle.

I just thought it was crazy when I got it all together and the seat was at my belly button. I was like what the F I’ll never be able to ride it. Then I was thinking it’s most likely a lot cheaper for Torker to sell this model with and extra long post(and let you cut it to size) then deal with 3 different size posts that you will most likely end up cutting anyway.

I have mine right around my waist area. So I don’t know if you should cut it too much.

Climb on in a doorway or along a fence or something. Use something where you can REALLY hang on. Start with one pedal all the way at the bottom. Put the seat under you and step onto that pedal and sit on the unicycle. Can you reach the pedals okay? That’s the real test. I think the seat normally is around your bellybutton, so don’t cut too much off without testing first.

habbywall,

Did you notice that you are almost at post 10,000?

Also, I realized the other day – I don’t know your name. You must have said your name sometime in the last nine thousand nine hundred and ninety seven posts.

All right I’ve been at it about 2 hours now. I can only get on when i can hold onto something with one hand. Also i had several rides that lasted about 100 feet(they didn’t look good but still it felt far). I found it to be alot easier to petal with my toe/balls of my feet rather then with my heels. Also I can’t seem to keep alot of my wieght of the seat, is this normal?

I used the balls of my feet too. I found that if I used the same pedal position it was much easier, then as I got better I would be able to switch feet positions in mid-ride.
I wouldn’t worry about mounting for now. I learned to ride, then I learned to mount. I found that easier because it was breaking it down into two different things to learn.
I’m not 100% but I think your supposed to keep most of your weight on the seat.
