New skills at NAUCC

I was dissapointed I only got Ryan going back to pedals from his seat in back wheel walk. So cool.

(edit, why did this top post?)

New skills at NAUCC

I didn’t get to go to NAUCC, but finally did see some pictures of the Expert Freestyle competition. I think I saw a few new skills being performed, or at least more difficult versions of a few.

  1. Stand up 1-ft wheel walk, while the rider is on one side of the seat.

  2. Sideways wheel walk, with the seat behind the rider.

Is this what I am seeing, and were there any others?

well, I think 1 is generally refered to as diake walk, however it’s spelled.

umm, you missed the seat in back wheel walk.

and… I didnt actualy watch anything else.here

Cool, thanks for 1.

I saw the seat in back ww photo, but since one foot was on the pedal, I kind of dismissed it, thinking: naaaa, couldn’t be.

I saw a drawing of this skill in The Complete Book of Unicycling. Noone seemed to believe me, but it was only a drawing. Where is my copy?

Does anyone have an avi?

Ill look into making one perhaps.

I don’t know it this is a new skill but this sideways ride in the open x was real cool. http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/albur43/PICT0785 .

He is riding from your left to right, on the pedals.

nah, colin’s been trying and doing that for years. well, at least a couple.

Re: New skills at NAUCC

I’ve seen that one before, though I can’t remember where I saw it first. Possibly UNICON IX (1998).

I think that one’s a little older. I know I’ve seen hopping in that position by Josue Barreto at UNICON IV (1988), but don’t remember when I first saw actual walking.

The only think I know I never saw before was Ryan’s seat behind wheel walk. Though in many cases professional performers may have done these tricks in the past, I’m pretty positive that was the first time that trick has been seen in the USA/IUF world.

A big one last year was Zach Vaughn’s turn-around jump mount. This is a “suicide” mount where you balance the unicycle, let go and do a complete pirouette on your feet, then jump on freehand and ride away.

Re: Re: New skills at NAUCC

And Ryan did the other two as well in his freestyle performance.

I believe that Yuuichiroo Katoo did a seat out wheel walk at the The
Great Wall of China Unicycle Marathon in 1993, sanctioned by the IUF,
Inc. Can someone else please verify this?
