I got a new ski jacket this year… instead of my Karbon one. It’s the Mountain Hardwear Tonnerre Jacket.
I have a few different sets of race poles and a really beat up pair of shinguards. I love the old Scott World Cup poles (the blue ones, from something like 5 years ago). They were the best and I really wish I could get another shorter pair for tele.
Think snow… it’s starting to get cold. Sugarloaf is looking frosty!
i already have a couple half-days of riding(i snowboard) under the belt for the season

im supposed to be getting new pants, a coat, shorts, and race suit pretty soon. Its all Karbon. I got a new pair of elan 999 for free skiing and i am trying to get a free pair of racetigers from volkl, but we’ll see what happens. oh yeah… im a telemark racer…
oh, that just mean to say to us mainers, we dont get ski able snow for awhile…
I dont think im getting any new ski stuff this year, considering i got a new pair of gs skis/poles, skate skis and used classic skis last year…
yeah…i walked up our local hill last week… there was only six inches at the top and none at the bottom… definatly not worth trying to skin up the second half, but it was still very promising
oh yeah, i also got some new skateskis this year…
Anybody know much about flylow gear? I’d really like to get the Cactus Pants for tele because I’ve now burned holes through 2 sets of Karbon pants…
I’m so excited for ski season… i’ve just gotten a brand new Spyder GS suit for racing, Spyder shin guards, a new bag, and some new gloves. New skis might be a few weeks away…
never heard of them man… but i cheaked em out and they look solid. Where are you burning holes in your pants? the inside of my pants get trashed from my edges, and the outsides of the knees on my speedsuits get worn out from my knee on the snow during races…
pretty spendy though, but im not sure what good pants retail at cause ive gotten free ones for the last few years… i do work in a ski shop though… so i should know.’
EDIT:They look SWEET for tele if you can afford em, the knees sound like they would bend very nicely
I’ve been burning holes in the knees. The inside of the pants get a bit thrashed too, but mainly the knees. Duct tape only works so well… I ski with BD Telekneesis, which makes my knees even closer to the ground, but more protected. Here on the east coast when we get powder, it covers stumps, which will wreck you.
They are a little pricey, but I need new ones anywho, we’ll see.
PS, do the inside of your boots get trashed by your edges? I have the garmont ener-g boots and wide skis, and they inside of the boots on the accordion are wearing pretty heavily.
I have a really wide stance, so my boots dont get marked up by training/racing at all, and freekskiing my pants (SUPER baggy) only get ripped when I’m skiing pow and park, sometimes bumps, because I tend to get knocked around way more when I’m not on a buffed racecouse, my skis get knocked into my pants a little. My bellows are basically perfect, my stance, even when freeskiing, is wide enough that only the ankle/cuff areas get any gashes, but overall my boots stay relativly mark free and the bottoms of my pants take the majority of the abuse.
I wear Arc’tryx kneecaps no matter what, because I dislocated both kneecaps a few winters ago. They are very round and smooth and fit the sides of my knees very well, I think this smooth surface keeps my pants and racesuit from ripping, they just get a small burned area.
GS11ms for sale
If any of you are GS racers I’m selling a pair of race stock Atomic GS11ms (176 cm). The radius is 21 m+ and most of the courses I race (NASTAR, Mt. Dew, etc) are around 18 meters. They come with Atomic 6.14 bindings. I paid $805 for them and only raced on them a dozen times. I’ll take $399 plus shipping from Connecticut.

Twist broke both my tibula and fibula(both big bones in your lower leg) sking once, never will do it again. However i was on snow blades, bindings done release.
snowblades are whack… stay away!
so im getting 2 pairs of world cup stock volkl race skis for less than $600 total… im super stoked, cause these are brand new, and the ones i would have gotten free would have been “reconditioned” which means that they had already been skied on. so basically, IM STOKED!
