I don’t think I’ve ever seen one, what do they look like?
Both. But this gives a good idea of how very different they are!
Thanks.
Oh…a proper fat 20" would be magical
In my experience these are:
- Most Torker LX and TX seatposts (there are some exceptions, and the CX / DX use a “standard” one)
- Some early Diamondback LX seatposts (probably TX too, as Diamondbacks are Torker’s clones)[/spoiler]
- Some early Raleigh LX seatposts (probably TX too, as Raleighs are Torker’s clones)
- At least some Knight seatposts
Edit: changed the wording as DB and Raleigh could have either Miyata or Standard interface.
These seatposts are actually quite good because 1. they already have a tilt and 2. they have a larger contact surface. However, the saddle selection is limited and they’re all cheap. And there are only steel posts. However, I got a manufacturer to pad one of these saddles for me much harder so that you don’t sink in as far. Although it’s considerably harder, it’s now more comfortable to ride, at least for me as an 80kg person. I’ve been riding with a handlebar stem for a few days now and I have to say, the thing rides really well. The handlebars are really difficult to install, but once they’re on, the effort is worth it.
I find it a bit unusual to ride. That’s probably because I’m riding the 26er Fatty. I’ll have to test it with 114mm cranks; maybe it’ll feel better for me then. But it’s certainly a relatively compact thing, making it easy to take with you on vacation.
UDC carries an aluminum one. Too short for me unfortunately:
That’s brilliant. I didn’t know that. I have up to 500mm, but only in steel
Wow! The longest Torker LX seatposts I have ever had were only 400 mm. Over the years, I got rid of all but one saddle with this interface because of that limitation.
I suspect we’re not talking about the same diameter: I have 22.2mm for my 40cm seatpost and 25.4mm for my 50cm seatpost. Unfortunately, the manufacturer isn’t able to apply the diamond pattern throughout. Their machines only manage 25cm. So you absolutely have to use a double clamp if you clamp outside this range, otherwise the seatpost is more likely to twist.
All the Miyata-style seatposts I have ever had were 25.4mm.
The 22.2mm Torkers use the standard seatpost interface (and smaller seats). DB and Raleigh probably follow the Torker standard.
Also available in Europe!
The new TPU Fatty tubes 20" and 24" V2 are ready.
After the entire series of V1 tubes (200 pieces) were defective, I looked for a new manufacturer who could produce these tubes with a Schrader valve and a continuous thread for a lock ring. This simplifies tube installation and also re-inflating with a cheap hand pump that you press against the valve. Of course, you can also omit the lock ring.
Ignore the printing; the installation area is
20x 4.0 - 4.5
24x 4.0 - 4.5
