New Name

[alpine_uni]

I felt like changing my user name for the third and hopefully last time. Originally I was UniFanatic03, then mike_echter, and now alpine_uni. I felt this was good since I race alpine and I love to unicycle. UniFanatic03 felt too childish a name for me, so I then put my name. I then started to feel a little uncomfortable having my full name posted, so I changed it. Just wanted to let everyone know of the change!

It is too late… I don’t mind that my name lives on, I just don’t want creeps looking on the site, seeing my full name and where I live, and coming to kill me. In a few days I’ll get rid of all the last name stuff, but for now I just wanted the other members to know that this is a new name for an old member.

I’ve been a member for three years, but I figured that I shouldnt bother Gilby by asking him to change my name, so I just re-registered.

How did you do it?

Well first I found a piece of steel that was about the right size, then I milled it down to reduce its thickness and height. After that we tack welded together a couple scraps to make a bending jig and used it to bend the steel into a “U” shape. Lastly, I drilled two sets of holes in it and used a bench grinder to round off the edges.

While I was doing that, Corby turned a piece of welding rod down to make a hinge pin, and cut a couple small grooves in it so we could use c-clips to hold it in place.

Worked like a charm!
