Hi everyone,
My name is Jono, i live in Hobart, Tasmania (Australia).
I work as a Finance Clerk and my hobbies are bike riding, bodyboarding, driving, and i got a Unicycle 2 days ago.
I have practiced about half an hour the last 2 days, am finding it a bit of a struggle, but am determind to get there
Do you think it would be too much to expect to be riding within 2 weeks?
Look forward to sharing my experiences with you and learning as much as i can.
Jono
Also, if there is any other Tasmanian Unicyclers out there please let me know
Hi Jono
Speak to toboggonist as soon as you can!!
He’s a tasmanian and is dying to meet another unicyclist!!!
As long as you keep trying and practice heaps you’ll be riding in under a week.
i learnt to ride in a few days, but i put lots and lots of hours in
Thanks for your replies, had a look at toboggonist’s profile… just a shame he’s up the other end of the state:( maybe one of us might feel like a drive sometime!!!
I plan to put in another 30mins tomorrow night then i will do some hardcore hours over the weekend.
If i can be riding in a week i will be one happy man!!
just remember keep your weight on the seat, dont try and stand up on the pedals to ride.
dont look at the ground look up near the horizon, its better for your balance.
and keep your weight on the seat.
Also a lot of perserverance is needed. Never give up and you will never fail.
Yep, i kinda figured that from the moment i hopped on
Butterflies… :o
hey man i PM’d you, i am heading up Hobart way this afternoon and i am always going up there for stand-up so chances are we shall meet!
I would be more than happy to help you with anything, all you have to do is contact me.
i may even see you today…
farewell,
Tom
I learned to ride 2nd day and I could go really far all you need to do is put 2 hours or more into it.
sup man hows it going
Might as well put a plug in for my journal here.
If you go to the link in my signature, I kept a fairly detailed journal-esque record of my first 35 days with my first unicycle, from my first hop on to getting proficient at freemounting. There’re tips at the end of each entry, so go ahead and read it if you want, and if you do, I hope it helps!
Welcome to the community!
Hey Dudewithasock, thanks for the link - i have had a quick look and it looks like it will be very useful, i will have a further read on my lunch break
I think i might start to make a journal too - just to track progress.
I’ll create a thread soon and keep it updated
It took me nine days to do 400 feet, however, since you’re a bit
Younger than I your likely to learn faster than me.
With your mind-set, you will ride in no time.
that’s one more of us and one less of them.
and that is definitely a good thing.
