New Member

Hello everyone.

I am a new member here at the Unicyclist community.

I live in Los Angeles and just purchased my first unicycle about 2 weeks ago. I’ve wanted to learn for as long as I can remember, and now I am learning.

I have a 17" very old Pelican unicycle (I believe.)

I think in the near future I may move up to a slightly larger wheel, even though I am only 5’ I am finding my feet can’t always move fast enough to keep me going.

Anyhow, I have made progress. My seat is the same both fowards and backwards (kinda looks like a banana or just an arc) and I discovered yesterday that when I set the seat a little further forward than it should be I was able to go a lot further than I had in the past.

I am very excited and exhilarated about my first two weeks. So far I think the furthest I’ve gone is about 30 feet … but that’s more than when I started. I am really enjoying the bruises from learning at this point.

I’m glad to be a member of the forum here… and hopefully soon I can meet up with some other SoCal unicyclists!

Congratz, and welcome to the forum!!!

My girlfriend is 5 feet tall too, and she has no troubles riding a 20 inch wheel. You might want to get one of those as a step-up from you 17. I think it will help you a lot, and also open up many more possibilities then youll have with your 17.

Meating up with the SoCal riders should be really easy. THeres lots of them here. =p

hey! i’m sam and i’m semi-new here too…i’ve been a part of the community for almost two months but only just recently discovered the joys of posting! Welcome!

Welcome to the forums!

That’s one more of us, one less of them…

dang I got beat again.

don’t think of it as being beaten…think of it as being so intelligent that you sent a brainwave to alex who did what you asked…

Welcome…

17"?? crazy. A 20" would probably be easier, and a 24" is fairly easy to learn on too.

Too big though and it gets a little bit harder again (especially if you’re only 5’ tall).

Once you’re that far it shouldn’t be too hard to beat that.

My mom is 5’ and she is learning on my 20". I’m 5’6".
