New Guy with questions

I just joined the forum. I am the advisor for the unicycle club at our high school. (So far only four members).

I own a Sun touring unicycle and rode for about 10 miles this weekend in Redding. My butt was sore. Any advice for a seat that is good for long tours?

Thanks.

hm do u have an ideas on how to start a unicycle club @ my school?

sweet. first suggestion: post in the RSU forum. second: something SOFT. not those “foam brick” seats that come with the unis.

Welcome to the forums!

And yes this should be in RSU but ill do mybest to help anyways. I assume your riding the stock sun saddle, correct? If thst true then a KH seat is clearly in order. For long distances and comforability i would say the KH gell Saddle or a custom made air saddle would be your best bet. For a gel saddle check out UDC. This is probably the best way to get unicycles and components in the US. For instructions on how to make a custone air saddle do a search on the forums for “Air Saddle” and that should turn out some good results for you.

Hope that helps

  1. Welcome to the forums
  2. These kind of posts belong in RSU
  3. I really hate to be a jerk…but please use the search function before posting something like this.
  4. Buy some bike shorts, and get a good-er seat

Where on the site are the gel saddles? I couldnt find them when I looked.

Welcome to the forums!

Its great that you have a club at your school, and are getting more people into unicycling, i have local city club, we are all going to ride downtown in about 3 more days, then the day after that we are giving uni lessons to a newcomer =p

For a better seat, the sun saddle sucks! i used it for about 2 years for just basic commuting, somehow i got used to it and don’t get sore onto it, but now switching to a KH style saddle, it feels like riding on heaven. Just look for air saddles, gel saddles, maybe cut some foam down and making a channel in the seat, also tilt your seat back a little so your sitting on the hard parts of your behind where you should be sitting at, and not the soft stuff.

Search around a lot, you’ll find great guides how to modify your seat.

that’s a particularly good site to convert to an air-saddle, it’s for a miyata but might work on other seats
