You know the Morman FLDS sect in Texas that had their children taken away by the state? Now that their children are back, they’ve decided to turn their newfound fame into a clothing business enterprise. You can purchase authentic clothing just like the FLDS folk wear. http://www.fldsdress.com
I wouldn’t be surprised if it began a whole new fashion trend in the U.S. I think I’ll order some trousers…and maybe a dress for Mary.
I guess I don’t remember correctly, but I thought I had dreamed up the Zorastrians on my own. I guess not because the real faith exists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism
Gee, I wonder if my Nigerian spammer friends ever caught on that I was lying.
By the way, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of adult-sized clothing on the FLDS website.
Ah, but what those articles don’t tell you is how the typical british pikey dresses. They look nothing like the Snatch gypos.
All the pikeys round our way wear trousers that are too short, shirts tucked in, slicked back hair and shoes, not trainers. Even the kids are the same. Its strange because its the total opposite of what is considered ‘cool’. The women wear the shortest skirts they can find and the skimpiest tops, along with too much fake tan and often there are rolls hanging over the sides of their skirts where they have had to squeeze themselves into it.
Where I live there is quite a big gypsy population, and the term Pikey is still widely in use meaning gypos. We just call piky-ish people chavs
Notably, the western religions are rooted in Zoroastrianism. Many stories of the bible, including the virgin birth and the idea of an apocalypse, showed up in that religion first. Many of the old testament stories originated in Zoroastrianism; only the details are different. Some might even say it was the precursor to Judaism much like Judaism was the precursor to Christianity.
Good, since that would have been a very poor fit. The FLDS are highly motivated to stay in one place, and only travel when forcibly pulled from their compound for relocation purposes.
