new ebay spam approach

i’m sure if this is new, but this is much different from anything else i’ve gotten.

i’ve gotten alot of ‘update your account info’ type emails, but this is the first time i got a unpaid item reminder, the only thing in the email is the item number, no product description.

after logging into my account, there was no alerts, after runnning the product ID in a search, no results found.

that was sneaky, an order could have been easily overlooked, and someone anxious to not get a bad rating might be anxious to click in there

I got the same email a couple days ago. I knew it was phishing though since I haven’t used ebay for months.

I think what I would have done first is input the item number into eBay to see what it was. That would help me remember what I had (or handn’t) recently purchased…

have a list of what your have bidded/ bought

ebay keeps a list for you. I havent had one of those yet (surprising…) maybe spam assasin killed them for me lol,

but i’ll have to watch out, i buy alot of stuff recently and i always check the number to make sure wot i bought though… clever though really

that’s what i did second

i first went into my control panel;, and saw there were no alerts, then just to be certain, i ran the item number, no items found,

I get thoes all the time. But get this I’ve never used e-bay in my life, not once. :astonished:

If you load the free eBay toolbar it will warn you when a bogus “eBay” looking email is opened. I’ve found it to work pretty well. Check it out.

ugh…another tool bar, i’ll take my chances
