New Coker has arrived

Yeah and I’m still waiting for someone to post a photo of it!

www.cokercycles.com

I think he meant a home grown picture

I wanna order one but the website mentions the brake bosses are missing on the current crop of big ones! So I’d want to make sure the got a new shipment with the bosses b4 I order one.

Oh, c’mon Terry. Brakes are for kids.

Invest youself in some custom tri-tapped cranks instead, perhaps 115/130/150? Nothin’ you can’t grind your way down on 150s, and think of all the weight you’ll save. That’ll let you build that onboard computer you’ve been thinkin’ about to go along with your boom box.

Ah..hahah! I never really use brakes… I just have them cuz they look so cool!:p:) :sunglasses:

heh, yeah i did mean a home grown photo. Hopefully also some insight into its weight and geometry.

I dug around in the box and found the missing hub cap.

It is cold and very windy today so looks like there will be no New Year’s Day riding for me. :frowning:

So… clear out the furniture from your living room. You know you wanna!

that’s what I do (and I ride in the cold too :D)

This is a follow-up to my earlier post. A representative from the Coker Company has apparently been lurking around the forum and saw my post about some of the packing material being missing. In an email to me, they acknowledged the mistake and apologized. (I must be the only one from Tennessee to place an order. Otherwise, how would they know my email address?) Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that despite some earlier bad-mouthing from me and others, the Coker Company is providing customer service.

Has anyone else received a new Coker? Am I the only one? That must make me special.

can i have your old one

Sure, for $500!:stuck_out_tongue:

So. Like what.. they didn’t offer to do something about the weather? And you still think you’re “special”? HA!

I guess they don’t provide that much customer service.

I managed two 30 minute rides over the weekend but riding uphill and into the wind was brutal.

Today was my first long (long for me) ride on the new Coker. I did about 12 miles earlier today and just got back from another 45 minute ride through my neighborhood.

It was all road riding. I don’t expect I will take my Coker off-road. It rides great. I feel much more secure riding around traffic and I think that is because there is much less of a problem with road crown. I can comfortably ride along roads that used to “throw me in the ditch” when riding my 29er with Big Apple tire. It seems odd to be looking down on cars as they go by.

The transition from 29er to Coker has been better/easier than from 24/26 to 29er. The Big Apple tire and road crown issue might have been a big part of my difficulty. For sure, the road crown problem was a big part of my reluctance to get a 36er.

I am not an aggressive rider but I am gradually adding a few obstacles (bumps and dips in the road) as I ride just to get the feel and get used to things. Turning around in the road or riding a small circle is a great feeling as I lean into the turn and accelerate to keep from falling over. It will really lean. I am looking for longer and steeper hills (steep for around here anyway).

I am having a good time with my new ride. I would like to go out and ride some more since the weather is nice today but it is getting dark and my legs are tired.

Another plus…as I was riding down my street and heading for home a few minutes ago, I heard “awesome, cool, neat, amazing, etc” coming from three different yards. One group in the middle of the block saw me coming as soon as I turned the corner onto my street. I heard “unicycle” from halfway down the street.

It was a good day.

Good to know.

That sounds awesome. I want to look down on cars too!

No doubt the bigger wheels seem to get a lot more respect from nonriders.

Have you worked out the wobbles yet? How about mounting attempts?

I don’t think the wobbling is excessive considering the size and weight of the wheel. Every unicycle wobbles. The smaller wheels wobble less. A little bit of wobble is a good thing because that is what keeps you from falling over sideways.

I can freemount first time about 3 out of 4 tries. My freemounting might not be pretty but it is functional. I would say mounting is not a problem until I start getting tired. I wish I could do a rolling mount and will try to work on that later.

Sorry to be a thread hog, but I am just so curious and envious.

Glad to hear about the wobbles. I hadn’t realized how much I wobble until I see tracks in the sand. Looks like a sidewinding snake went by. Then again maybe I wobble extra in deep sand to make it through.

3 out of 4 tries. I’d say you’ve about got it. Unbelievable.

lol
sand makes a HUGE difference on how much you wobble, i can ride on a curb very easily and quickly, but there is no way i could ride that straight through sand.
