Nueschwanstein isn’t that amazing, I mean it was, but not number 5 amazing.
And I don’t really think the results of this will mater, they will always be the same old ones.
Yes, the orginal 7 great wonders of the world will always be the same. But they are replacing them with the new great wonders of the current world and eventually over time, those original 7 great wonders will be forgotten…
I agree that castle isn’t that amazing but it sure is one of the prettiest places I have ever been. It’s actually my most favorite place as of right now.
There have been many versions and variations on the “Seven Wonders of the Modern World,” “Seven Wonders of the New World,” “Seven Wonders of the Natural World,” etc. Mostly for marketing purposes. If someone else has something to market, they’ll call it one of the seven wonders, even if it means making their own list of the other six!
Who needs to advertise the Acropolis, you may ask? The city of Athens and the country of Greece. Tourism, that is.
I would definitely list Pyramids (never been there), and definitely Great Wall (been there). Maybe Stonehenge (been there), as everyone has to “wonder” about it. Same might apply to Macchu Pichu (never been there), but don’t know if it’s amazing enough. Definitely Eiffel Tower too (been there just recently), as it’s not only beautiful, but functional, and a great symbol. Statue of Liberty is a great symbol, but not much of an engineering marvel, and Eiffel (who built the framework) is already getting listed once. The Kremlin? When I was there, nobody was allowed in, so I have no idea what’s behind the wall in Red Square. Not sure if it’s different now. St. Basels (the cathedral) is beautiful, but don’t know if it was an engineering marvel either. The place in Istanbul seems pretty cool, but what about the Pantheon in Rome? It was the engineering marvel that inspired so many domes after it.
I imagine votes for the various structures will be based more on what parts of the world people live in, and which ones they’ve seen themselves, rather than which are the most “wonderful.” Most Americans may list the Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower, and are less likely to list the really far away stuff, especially if they don’t know much about it. The temple carved into the middle-eastern rocks will get lots of extra votes from Westerners because they recognize it from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Easter Island Statues, they are just too cool not to, and they are mysteriously awesomeness.
Eiffel Tower, its just a classic, and its a pretty smart design.
The Great Wall of China, its freaking huge, and way to many people died making it for it not to be there.
Petra, I had never heard of it, it looked pretty neat, it was my number seven choice.
Pyramids, of course, why wouldn’t they be.
Stonehenge, for its WTF value.
Taj Mahal, its just too cool, I think it was also like the first puzz3d, I ever made back when I was little.
