Need exercises for knee hyperextension

I had a uni accident last weekend and hyperextended my knee. I’m in no pain, it just felt a bit wobbly and when I straighten my knee all the way it feels like it does when you overdo without stretching first. I think it’ll get better on its own (I didn’t go to the doctor) but want to strengthen my muscles so I don’t injure myself again.

Does anyone have some good knee strengthening exercises?

i knowticed that when i 1st started riding that i had knee pains, and my knees got more muscular since i started riding uni. maybe just go on a long ride or something. but im not a doctor so, you get the point

Re: Need exercises for knee hyperextension

You can get a lot of good information by googling
[http://www.google.com/search?q=knee+hyperextension]. The article at
ehealthmd.com looks really good, and includes rehab exercises.

According to the info I skimmed, the common injury from knee
hyperextension is an ACL tear. Your lack of pain means the injury is
not bad, but you already figured that out. Even so, I would worry
about the possibility of aggrevating the injury during activity.

Personally, I’d visit my knee doctor (sports medicine specialist).
For example, when I tore my MCL this spring, he knew right away how long it would
take to heal (90% in 6 weeks, fortunately), recommended activities
(e.g. bicycling using only the good leg for power) to help the
process, and gave me a brace to prevent a misstep from re-tearing the
ligament.

Would you ask your doctor how to freemount or idle?

Knee injuries can be serious. Mishandle it and you could have a weakness in later life. Get proper advice.

I write as a 43 year old carrying permanent injuries in one foot, one knee, one wrist and one arm, all because I was too busy or too proud (or too stupid) to seek medical advice early and follow it properly.
