Nazis Envious of Bush strategy to get away with genocide and war crimes
I apologize in advance for the inflamatory headline. this is something Bush has been pushing ever since he got into office. The thing he fears is what happened to Pinochet, who got extradicted back to Spain for war crimes 20 years later. For the rest of their lives, Bush and his administration could have trouble travelling outside the USA, fearing arrests for war crimes, for which there is no statute of limitations.
His most recent strategy is to bribe needy nations to sign immunity agreements, so they cannot prosecute him for war crimes. It’s pretty heavy handed, but hey, that’s not new for Bush.
Maybe someone can turn this into a poll, so we can get a vote on this.
My “this” did not link, but you can go to the end of the entry for the link.
“The exposure [to war crimes prosecution] faced by the United States goes well beyond people on active duty and it includes decision-makers in our government,” said a high-ranking State Department official who was authorized to speak about the policy but only if he was not identified. “We’re not hallucinating that our officials are at risk.”
This is hilarious. The thread is Godwined right from the start. Billy is working really hard at becoming the next thread killer or creator of dead threads.
I apologize for the Tinyurl link. It goes to a Wikipedia page. The forum software wouldn’t turn it into a clickable link because the URL has an apostrophe in it. So Tinyurl to the rescue.
i also hope that anyone stupid enough to fight in Bush’s illegal war ( yes i’m ashamed of Australia’s very own John Howard and Britains Blair) face the real and just reprocussions of the actions they so cavalierly took.
By my reasoning they should face 100 000 or so life sentances between them.
Mark
No. Invoking Godwin’s Law is intentionally making a reference to Hitler or Nazis as a troll to derail the thread. I did not do that.
The point of Godwin’s law is to minimize the inappropriate comparisons to Hitler or the Nazis in discussions. It’s an overused comparison and loses it’s impact because of that overuse and inappropriate use.
See the Godwin’s Law FAQ for an additional take on Godwin’s law.
The point being is that you Godwined the thread at the very start. I find that funny.
Yes I did. But not by directly making a Nazi reference.
That’s the problem with inappropriate Nazi references like what Billy made when creating the thread. They cause the thread to stray from its normal course. That’s one reason why Nazi references kill threads.
It seems like almost anything causes a thread to stray from it’s course. Sometimes people resurrect a dead thread because it only tangentially related, like the Wal-Mart security death thread, which had nothing to do with the initial thread…
Bush’s strongarming for his own immunity… Maybe we should compare him to Dennis the Menace?
So John, you didn’t make a reference to Nazis, therefore killing (or derailing) the thread [Godwins Law]. You did, however, make a reference to a law that states that referring to nazis will kill a thread, thereby killing the thread. Kind of thread-killing by proxy?
