Today a woman in her early 20s asked if she could try my 20." After about
5 minutes she was riding 20 feet unassisted. First time I’ve seen that!

For the record – about 20 years ago in Japan, I saw with my own eyes
someone get on a uni and ride off immediately – I don’t remember how many
seconds. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Yes, that was his first time.

Incredible as it sounds, I saw the same thing once. A guy stopped me on
the street and wanted to try. His first attempt took him at least 15’. He
got right back on and then rode off down the sidewalk, over 50’. He and
his friend swore he had never ever even tried one before.

I suppose you mean 15 minutes. That is not so uncommon. In fact, I have
often taught kids in Japan to ride several revolutionss of the wheel in
less than 30 minutes, somtimes in as little as 15, using the methods in my
booklet (Anyone Can Ride A Unicylce).

No, actually I meant 15 feet. He literally got on (holding a pole),
launched himself forward and went 2-3 revolutions. Right afterward, he
rode down the street, wobbling, but didn’t fall for over 50 feet. Amazing.

I think Nathan means 15 feet , from the context and his further use of the
’ mark for a distance of 50’ later in the post.
