Today is National Day of Action on Cigarette Butt Litter.
What did you do to help the Butt Littering Trust clean up the world?
Personally, i browsed Buttbin.com for a few minutes.
I decided not to smoke.
i read that as cigarette butt lighter
and started wondering why you wolud have a day devoted to not using the cigarette lighters in the 12v socket of a car

In the South African Defence Force they used a system at some camps where you were only allowed to buy a packet of cigarettes if you could hand in an empty packet containing 20 butts (I know, I know, you know what I mean tho).
It worked a charm.
Cig butts are one of life’s biggest annoyances.
A butt deposit would be a grand idea.
I’m going to take up smoking and then quit!
Stupid butts everywhere…
The first hurdle is to convince smokers that their butts are litter. They seem to think butts don’t exist, or otherwise somehow rationalize their littering as a small thing compared to what they’re doing to their own health.
In California, cigarettes are also the cause of hundreds (probably thousands) of roadway brush fires each year, mostly near the road but some going huge.
What’s worse than throwing garbage out of a moving vehicle??? LIGHTING IT ON FIRE FIRST. People are insane. Millions of them. If they were smarter, they’d be ashamed.
And at the outdoor designated smoking area at the office, they have a butt receptacle on the wall. Do you think people use it? Once I sat on the curb near that area. Disgusting.

It’s a $1000 fine for a reason. Too bad it’s not enforced more heavily.
What I find maddening is when people litter right next to a trash can. If the person looks non-threatening I call them on it and they act as if they are doing nothing wrong by dropping incendiary garbage on the ground inches from a proper receptacle.
