N.U.C. the Antichrist and other things

Greetings all

A few short weeks until NUC in Toronto. How time does fly when deadlines
are concerned.

The electric unicycle is ready for showing at the convention. I have named
it the antichrist, once you see it you will understand. Even more so if
you are willing to give it a try. I am not saying it is impossible to
ride, to the contrary, I firmly believe it is possible. I will not have
the time to practice before the convention. The best I can do is fall off.
I will try to put in some practice time, so I can at least demonstrate
that it is a viable machine and perchance a budding engineer will point
out the obvious.

The final weeks before NUC I will be finishing/riding the variable speed
unicycle! Yep, at last she is almost finished. The transmission is
finished and bench test show no problems. Now I just have to slap on a
wheel and a seat. This one you will be able to take out for a test spin. I
only used 1/2 inch shafts on the prototype so no jumping or dropping,
etc… will be allowed. After the many hours put into building her, I might
take it personally!

Mr. Drummond, if you are reading this will you have your booth set up at
this convention,? Donna and I would like to see the sights of Toronto
and would like to know if we could leave the Antichrist and Variable
Uni with you. If not, what other arrangements can be made? I would
like everyone at the convention, who is interested, to be able to see
them. No copyrights, patents or anything else involving lawyers, just
some prototypes to spark the imagination.

Folks who may have been waiting on the variable cranks, similar to the
owns at NUC 2000, will have to wait until next year. So many toys, so
little time.

Joe

We’ll be there, Joe. We’re bringing a bunch of new toys to the playground!
Can’t wait to see your newest creation. Your robo-uni at last year’s
convention was pretty wild.

Best regards, John Drummond www.Unicycle.com 1-800-Unicycle

Any chance you have any technical details of these you would be able to
post? I’ve often contemplated what would be required to build an electric
unicycle. I am especially curious to hear what sort of transmission you
have worked out on the variable speed unicycle.

Well, if I have to, I’ll wait until NUC, but you’ve definitely peaked
my interest.

That’s a great site. Thanks a lot for the info. I’ll look into
being there.

Lowell

I agree with Lowell, usually we get a packet by now having a map and
directions and such. Toronto is a BIG place and then where on Humber
College do we go?

Also not everyone has access to the web.

Dirk

Toronto, with 3 million or so people, is somewhat a large place, but not
as large as New York, Beijing or Tokyo.

A map from the airport to Humber College can be found at
http://cecal.humberc.on.ca/geninfo/cmap.htm. A map of the Humber College
campus can be found at http://cecal.humberc.on.ca/geninfo/northmap.htm.
We’ll be posting exactly where within Humber College you need to be when
for what event shortly. For now you can cruise around the Humber site and
experience a “virtual 360 degree tour”

I’ll post both maps on the TorontoUnicyclists’ site for everyone.

The web site at http://torontounicyclists.tripod.com/tnucmain.htm has the
most current schedule we have. When we know more details the schedule will
be changed.

See you in Toronto. It’ll be great.
